A series of poly(arylene ether)s, (PAEs), carrying a pendant diphenyl phosphoryl group were prepared via the nucleophilic aromatic substitution (NAS) reactions of 3,5‐difluorotriphenylphosphine oxide, 6 . The difluoro monomer 6 was synthesized via two‐step reaction sequence and subsequently characterized by 1H, 13C, 19F, and 31P NMR spectroscopy, GC/MS, and elemental analysis. The reactivity of the electrophilic sites in 6 , activated by only a diphenylphosphoryl group located in the meta‐position, in 6 was probed via NMR spectroscopy and model reactions and was determined to be sufficient to undergo typical NAS reactions. High molecular weight, amorphous, organic soluble poly(arylene ether)s, bearing a pendant diphenylphosphoryl group, were prepared via the reaction of 6 with a variety of bis‐phenols under typical NAS conditions. The poly(arylene ether)s were characterized for structure via the use of 1H, 13C, and 31P NMR spectroscopy while their thermal properties were evaluated using DSC and TGA analysis. The glass transition temperatures (Tg) of the synthesized PAEs ranged from 143 to 175 °C, while their 5% weight loss temperatures ranged from 467 to 510 °C under nitrogen and from 470 to 526 °C in air. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The term “cyborg” refers to a cybernetic organism, which characterizes the chimera of a living organism and a machine. Owing to the widespread application of intracorporeal medical devices, cyborgs are no longer exclusively a subject of science fiction novels, but technically they already exist in our society. In this review, we briefly summarize the development of modern prosthetics and the evolution of brain–machine interfaces, and discuss the latest technical developments of implantable devices, in particular, biocompatible integrated electronics and microfluidics used for communication and control of living organisms. Recent examples of animal cyborgs and their relevance to fundamental and applied biomedical research and bioethics in this novel and exciting field at the crossroads of chemistry, biomedicine, and the engineering sciences are presented. 相似文献

The FePt system has important perspectives as high-temperature corrosion-resistant magnets. In the form of rapidly solidified melt-spun ribbons, FePt-based magnets may exhibit in certain cases a two-phase hard–soft magnetic behaviour. The present paper deals with a microstructural and magnetic study of FePtAgB alloys with increasing Ag content. The aim is to identify and confirm the effect of Ag addition in decreasing the temperature of the FePt disorder–order structural phase transformation. A detailed high-resolution transmission electron microscopy study is employed, and the alternative disposal of hard and soft regions within the two-phase microstructure is observed and interpreted with respect to the X-ray diffraction results. In the as-cast Ag-containing samples, it is shown that there is an optimum of the Ag content for which best magnetic properties are obtained. Ag addition creates a nonlinear behaviour of the coercive field and the ordering parameter, similar to the RKKY interaction-induced interlayer exchange coupling (IEC) observed in magnetic layers separated by non-magnetic spacer layers. Direct formation of the L10 phase from the as-cast state in the FePtAgB alloys is reported with magnetic parameters compatible to other exchange spring permanent nanomagnets. In this study, the formation of silica–chitosan hybrid materials via sol–gel process under pH values of 2–6 were investigated
using N2 sorption analysis, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermal analysis and zeta potential analyzer.
The hierarchical structure consisting of meso- and macropore was formed when pH value was higher than 2. Mesopores were formed
as the interparticle channels of silica nanoparticles aggregates, whereas macropores were the void between the aggregates
(clusters). The clusters size was decreased with increasing the pH value, resulting in the increase of the macroporosity.
The thermal conductivity of the products was controlled in the range of 0.06 and 0.13 W m−1 K−1 by varying the product porosity between 88 and 69% (pH 6 and pH 2, respectively). 相似文献

Methylation of 5-amino-1H-tetrazole ( 1 ) gives 1-methyl-5-amino-1H-tetrazole ( 2 ) and 2-methyl-5-amino-1H-tetrazole ( 3 ). A new family of energetic silver complexes based on ligands 1 , 2 and 3 with perchlorate and nitrate anions ( 10 – 15 ) were synthesized and characterized by using IR, Raman, and NMR (1H, 13C, 14N, and 35Cl NMR) spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and mass spectrometry. The crystal structures of the compounds were determined where possible and reveal interesting structural details that are discussed herein. Additionally, differential scanning calorimetry was used to assess the thermal stability of the new salts, which showed excellent thermal stabilities at temperatures up to and above 225 °C. Standard tests were also used to assess the sensitivity of the materials towards impact and friction. All the silver complexes showed increased sensitivity values in comparison with analogous protonated 5-amino-1H-tetrazolium perchlorate and nitrate salts. Some of these materials have sensitivity values that are comparable to commonly used primary explosives and all of them either deflagrate ( 12 – 14 ) or detonate loudly ( 10 and 11 ) on contact with an open flame. Lastly, nitrate salt 11 is easily initiated by thermal shock. It shows reasonably low sensitivity in comparison with other silver salts (e.g., silver azide or silver fulminate), which makes handling it much less hazardous. Compound 11 also has good thermal stability, decomposing at ≈300 °C, and shows interesting properties as a more environmentally benign alternative to lead(II) diazide in initiation devices for civil and military applications. 相似文献
